Try kontosouvli (marinated pork on a spit) and kokoretsi (liver wrapped in intestines on a spit), mousaka, cheese pie from Lamia, babanatsa (pie without filo) and fresh fish at the fish tavernas by the sea in Livanates and Karavomilos.  In the mountainous areas try mamaliga (eggs, pumpkin and mizithra cheese) for breakfast and tasteful xilopites (type of pasta with eggs and milk), homemade baklava (type of sweet) and the famous Lamia kourabiedes (biscuits with almonds and powdered sugar).
