The region is known for its local cuisine.  There are many local delicacies, some of which are of Protected Destination of Origin, that make the area well known.  Delicious pies from Zagora, homemade bread, cheeses (Dodoni feta cheese, metsovone, galotiri), local tsipouro (drink from distilled grape marc), Zitsa wine as well as wine made in small villages from local grape varieties like debina, vlahiko and bekari, many sweets like gianniotiko and baklavas.  Local specialities are frogs legs, grilled trout and eel, kontosouvli (marinated pork on a spit), charcoaled sheep, wild greens pie, kourkoutopita (type of cheese pie), hilopites (type of pasta).
