The region's land is very fertile and produces various foods: fruit (oranges, tangerines, lemons, grapefruit – which are then made into juices), olive oil, olives, wine (local varieties such as mandilaria, fokianos, roditis, agiorgitiko, kidonitsa, mavroudi, monemvasia, petroulianos, malagouzia, mavraki, thrapsa), tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, dairy products such as feta cheese and yoghurt, onions, oregano and tea, chestnuts, walnuts, figs, apples, cherries, honey and homemade pasta.

Most restaurants serve pork, whether it is grilled, cooked or cured.  Try homemade pasta with mizithra cheese, boiled wild greens (amigdalithres, wild spinach, sgatzikia), kagianas (scrambled eggs with tomatoes and cheese), lallagia (fried dumplings), siglino (cured pork braised in oranges), tsigarolaxana (fried wild greens), goat with fennel, cauliflower kapamas, gogizes, pitaroudes, travihtes, diples, Monemvasia amigdalota, galopita and rusks.
